September 12th, 2006 Indonesian Food Stands, Srimulat, Slank, Ahhhh am I home??? ;)

We went to San bernardino at 5 because Rully said he was performing at 6 pm (and I later found out he didnt tell anyone else!) But he was awesome, see for yourself:

Rully’s Performance

After we saw Rully, we hung out since there were sooooo many kinds of Indonesian food. Yuum Yum…. I had Mpek Mpek, Nasi Padang, Risoles, Tahu isi, Siomay and Martabak Manis (this was the best). They also had Es Mambo (brings back so many childhood memories)!!! At 8-ish the people we know started arriving (even Bang iwing dropped by, but for the food not for Slank :P ) It felt really cool being surrounded to tons and tons of Indonesian, it kinda feels as if I were home… Slank was supposed to perform last and Srimulat (OMG , they were hilarious) was performing before Slank.

September 6th, 2006 Slank @ BB King

“Slank is coming to LA!” That’s what someone told me weeks ago, but I didn’t know exactly when just until a couple of days before. There were rumors that the show would start at 7 pm @ BB King Club at Universal City Walk and so Baby and I got there at aproximately 7:30 pm. It turned out that the doors weren’t even open, but we saw Sammy waiting outside. Sammy said he had been there since 7 pm. We decided to go grab something to eat first.

It turned out that there were a lot (and i mean A LOT) of bands before Slank who were performing and ecah of them had some sort of technical difficulties, thus, more and more delay… Hung out with the Justinians, Jerry, Edwin and Yolana while waiting.

By midnight we were debating whether to woait or just go home. Luckily, we then got introduced to the band, and we felt so sorry for them (they looked really tired since they just got there) and they were also just waiting to perform. One thing I can say about them, they are really cool and down to earth. :) here are more pics while waiting… (and one is actually with them =) )

Finallyyyyy after a very long wait, they performed at 1:15 am, and one word: AWESOME! It was worth the wait, definitely. Now, I definitely have to go to see them oagain at San Bernardino this coming Saturday

I stll need to figure out a way to upoload my videos, but meanwhile, here is the link for a part of Slank’s performance @ BB King:
August 22nd, 2006 Three nights of eating, drinking and chatting!

Last weekend was my dad’s last vacation weekend here before he had to fly back to Indo. So we tried to make the most of it. Yeah lots of quality family time for the whole weekend. Bang Iwing also stayed over from Friday till Monday.
Friday:

Went to Macy’s in the afternoon (they’re having an awesome sale) and went to dinner at Geisha House. Dad and Bang Iwing have never been there, they said they loved the place and the food. I was craving for that juicy choc souffle cake! To top it off, out extremely nice waiter gave us all free geisha shots (it’s so good I wonder whats in it)

Saturday:

Went to Beverly Center in the afternoon (yeah, another sale :P ) and went to Crustacean right after that. Delicious Crab and Garlic noodles! I didn’t realize dad had been craving for the Garlic noodles since he didn’t tell us. Ugh I realized I forgot to bring my digicam’s memory card, so these pics were taken from my cellphone’s sucky camera (when will that sony er P990 be relased??!!!) We finished at around 11:30 pm and we decided to have coffee and dessert (napoleon and choc eclair) along with some hookah at Gypsy cafe. It was getting a little chilly later on so we went home around 2:30 ish.

Saturday:

Family BBQ Party!! (again ;) )

The whole family plus Reza, Cody, Ellen, David and Jerry was there. I cooked some sambal goreng ati and dendeng balado and mom made some salad. Den BBQ’ed the beef ribs that cody and ellen bought.  I made a first  attempt to bake a choc souffle cake, and although it’s no where near the geisha house souffle quality, i could say it was decent enough to satisfy the cravings (eek I think I ate 3 pieces that night!) Last guests went home at 2 am ish. Definitely lots of eating, drinking and talking that night (especially David with the talking part *WINK *WINK, LOL, I’m just kidding Dave)

July 30th, 2006 A weekend with Farrah and David

I haven’t seen my old bud Farrah for the longest time although she lives in Northen Ca! So when she told me she was coming down for the weekend I was thrilled :) I promised I would take her and her boyfriend, David,  out to a place where we can hang out, drink, talk and smoke too! So I chose Geisha House. The sushi is delicious and their molten chocolate lava cake is TO DIE FOR! best of all, you can smoke since its supposedly ‘outdoors’ It’s also not too loud so we can still chat without having to yell too much. At midnight we requested some birthday candles on the molten cake because it was David’s Bday!

The next day, David and Farrah invited us for BBQ at Dana’s Point. We came a bit late because we were soo tired from the day before, but it’s all good. The sun was still there yet it wasn’t too hot, just perfect for me. I’d hated to think that I could get any darker than I already was. It surely was an awesome weekend =)

July 30th, 2006 Wedding

I haven’t been to a wedding for a while, and this time it’s my two close friends’ wedding. It was a traditional Indonesian wedding and it was GORGEOUS!!! They both looked very beautiful :)

July 9th, 2006 Happy Bday Ellen!

The four of us (Me, Den, Ellen & Cody) had dinner at Asia de Cuba to celebrate Ellen’s Bday. It was their first time there (we had been trying to persuade them to try this restaurant) and it turned out wonderful. The patio was packed and despite our 9:30 pm reservation, we weren’t seated until around 10:30 pm. Luckily, we did get the outside seating with the view of the city. Our waiter was great, the food was delicious and the dessert was heavenly!

June 6th, 2006 Hiks hiks :’(

My bestfriend left for a long long vacation today (3-4 months!) Im soooo sad :’(

Even though we can still talk on the phone or chat on the computer, it’s just not the same without her around. I can’t believe I actually cried as sat in the car after taking her to the airport, it’s not as if she’s leaving forever.. Is it???

You better come back soon , Inka and you better enjoy that long ass vacation! :P

May 30th, 2006 Bday Dinner & Birthday Party Number 26

My actual Bday was on the 24th (a Wednesday) and I didnt think it would be a good idea to invite people on a weekday. But on that day I met a school friend (Shiz) whom I haven’t seenfor a while and since she is going to start her internship in Northern Calif, I thought it would be a good time to meet up for lunch before she leaves. I didn’t think she would remember my birthday, but she did! :) She gave me a bag of goodies from Bath and Body Works, which I just loved!! Thanks a lot Shiz. Since Shiz had always wanted to try Indonesian food, I took her to Ramayani, which had pretty good Indonesian food (although they were a tad expensive). Good thing she loved the food, so it was worth it :D

With school done and summer just beginning, my party mood was definitely on! Invited close friends for backyard party with home cooked food plus alcohol and everyone was happy! hehehehe The last guest didnt go home till 3 a.m (inka and Darius). Cody and Ellen spent the night. The part I hated the most was of course the cleaning up. Luckily, Cody and Ellen helped out so it wasn;t so bad after all. Thanks all, for making my Bday party awesome! =)

March 21st, 2006 Happy Birthday, Love!

It was a rainy day on the day before my baby’s 25th Birthday. I Finished class at 5 pm and rushed to Best Buy to buy him the thing that I knew he had always wanted, The new ipod video in black! my clothes and hair were all wet but I still had to get the card and something to wrap the ipod with plus the birthday cake. I got home at aprox. 8:15 and hid all the stuff in the car (except the cake which I rushed to the fridge) At exactly 12 am, I asked Den to accompany me to the car (told him I forgot something and was too scared to go out alone) maybe I was giggling too much he figured out that something wasn’t right and I was hiding something :P hehehe but he was still quite suprised, and that was enough for me. So we sat down, celebrated with our pommies and had some tasty bday cake!
