August 30th, 2006 Which ones?

I just got my eyes examined to see how bad my vision has gotten since it’s been a couple of years since last time I went and also my glasses are really in a bad shape and I need new ones (yeah, Pebbles had been chewing on my current ones, good thing I mainly wear contacts)

And so I can’t decide whether to get the thick plastic ones or the regular metal ones. I really wanted to get the plastic ones, but I swear I look too much like a librarian!!! So anyways I got these flashy (and I mean FLASHY) chanel ones with some stones on the side. Usually they will be done in one hour but since the lenses for those particular frames weren’t available, they told me that it would take one week. So I thought, ‘fine, whatever..’

However, I couldn’t stop thinking if there is a pair of plastic ones that would look pretty decent on me, so when I went to another Lens Crafter the next day, I tried some on. A pair of plastic Chanel stood out because of their unusual shape (they kinda slanted upwards like cateyes) , and OMG they looked great! I told them I had already ordered a pair and would like to exchange but she said I had to wait until I get them to exchange. Or I could just buy these too and return the ones I ordered later for a full refund. I opted for the latter.

So I waited an hour, picked them up and went home. I was trying them on again (I only tried them on briefly at the store because I was in hurry) and suddenly I realized, What The Fuck??? The shape was different (the slanted cateyes shape were now straight) I figured, they prolly weren’t supposed to be like that in the first place and that slanted shape was just because they were crooked!!! So when they did my order, they fixed them, so now they were in the shape the were supposed to be!! AARRGHH… They still looked OK but they were a lot better when they ‘defective’ So now I can’t decide whether to keep them or just the flashy ones that I ordered before. Hmmmmm, I wonder if the store can bend them so that they are in that cateyes shape again for me? Maybe I’ll give it a try…

August 26th, 2006 It’s so quiet here….

So…. we just got back from taking mom to the airport. It feels so quiet at home.. A little too quiet… I opened the door, went inside the guest bedroom (the room I shared w/ mom), and sat right in front of my laptop which has always been on top of the bed that I had been sleeping on when my mom was here. It feels sad sitting by myself here, but somehow it feels so peaceful. Why is it everytime mom goes back I feel like something is missing? I mean, I’m not a little girl anymore, but I always feel really sad whenever she goes back. Is it just because I’m really really close to her? She is my best friend afterall..  Or have I just gotten used to her being around me all the time? Or maybe, I am still just a spoiled little brat deep down inside? Hmmmmmm…….

Ugh I better start organizing all my shit, after all, school will start again in a few days.. Or, maybe I’ll wait until Tuesday and sleep in for a few days :P

PS: Baby has done a really really good job cheering me up, he made me feel a lot better. We sat for a while in front of our new pond (i’ll take pics tomorrow) just chatting and spending some quiet time together =) Thank you, LOVE.

August 24th, 2006 Camarillo

This Wednesday we took what was prolly our third or fouth trip to Camarillo even since mom got here. Good thing it’s only 30 mins away, unlike Cabazon which is about 2 hours away (with no traffic). The damage done to the purse was not as bad as the Cabazon trip (too bad I did’t take pictures), but just to give some idea, this is what happened in just a few hours at Camarillo. (the Cabazon trip was prolly 8 times as much, I swear I’m not kidding!! The back of my Lexus GX470 (which is pretty big since it’s a huge SUV) was literally exploding with shopping bag when we went to Cabazon (damn damn why didn’t I take pictures?) I just thought this is pretty interesting or maybe even amusing to people who don’t share my passion of shopping :P

August 22nd, 2006 Three nights of eating, drinking and chatting!

Last weekend was my dad’s last vacation weekend here before he had to fly back to Indo. So we tried to make the most of it. Yeah lots of quality family time for the whole weekend. Bang Iwing also stayed over from Friday till Monday.
Friday:

Went to Macy’s in the afternoon (they’re having an awesome sale) and went to dinner at Geisha House. Dad and Bang Iwing have never been there, they said they loved the place and the food. I was craving for that juicy choc souffle cake! To top it off, out extremely nice waiter gave us all free geisha shots (it’s so good I wonder whats in it)

Saturday:

Went to Beverly Center in the afternoon (yeah, another sale :P ) and went to Crustacean right after that. Delicious Crab and Garlic noodles! I didn’t realize dad had been craving for the Garlic noodles since he didn’t tell us. Ugh I realized I forgot to bring my digicam’s memory card, so these pics were taken from my cellphone’s sucky camera (when will that sony er P990 be relased??!!!) We finished at around 11:30 pm and we decided to have coffee and dessert (napoleon and choc eclair) along with some hookah at Gypsy cafe. It was getting a little chilly later on so we went home around 2:30 ish.

Saturday:

Family BBQ Party!! (again ;) )

The whole family plus Reza, Cody, Ellen, David and Jerry was there. I cooked some sambal goreng ati and dendeng balado and mom made some salad. Den BBQ’ed the beef ribs that cody and ellen bought.  I made a first  attempt to bake a choc souffle cake, and although it’s no where near the geisha house souffle quality, i could say it was decent enough to satisfy the cravings (eek I think I ate 3 pieces that night!) Last guests went home at 2 am ish. Definitely lots of eating, drinking and talking that night (especially David with the talking part *WINK *WINK, LOL, I’m just kidding Dave)

August 22nd, 2006 Jobless?

My boss called over the weekend and offered me a job at his new company. I told him I would think about it since I am still wondering if I’ll be able to juggle between work and school. On one hand it would definitely look great on my resume working for an international company for a while before going back to Indo for good. But on the other hand, based on past experiences with this mba program, I rarely have any free time outside of doing school work. Well, not really since I had always been able to find the time to play my stupid online games :P Soooo, job or no job??? We’ll see…

August 18th, 2006 “sorry, he doesn’t work here anymore, they all left the company”

So……that’s the answer I got from Mimi, the UBS admin who picked up the phone when I called Steve (Bob’s assistant) earlier this week to check what time I should come to work that day. It turns out my Boss, Bob, his partner, and Steve had suddenly resigned on Friday, my day off. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who was suprised, they did’t tell anyone until the last minute that they had decided to go work for UBS’s competitor, Citigroup Smith & Barney. So.. I was just like “Ummm, okayyyyyyyy” Great , just on my last week, this happened…
I was told that it is a ‘common’ thing to do in this kind of business when you decided to go to a competitor. Yet, I can’t help but wonder the ethics of it. Can you really, after 14 years of working in a company, just leave without even bothering to give out the 2 weeks notice? I just thought that was a little harsh. But hey.. who am I to judge??? What I really should do is open my eyes and try to get used to this kinds of things if I really want to stay in this industry… Yeah, abso-fuckin-lutely…..

August 15th, 2006 Shopping, Shopping and yeah, Shopping

I can’t believe how busy I’ve been lately.. No, not with work, and no, not with school either… Yeah, with shopping. It seems like all I have done for this past week is spend $$. Luckily my parents are still here, or else I’d be burried deep in debts already! :P

10 pairs of shoes, 20 skirts & shorts, a few jeans, a few dresses, a Marc jacobs bag and 10 tops just a few days. I wonder if anyone else is as shopaholic as I am? I’m sure lots of people are, but do I know anyone who is?? Retail therapy always works for me, but the problem is, I’m not even feeling stressed right now… So what is this therapy really for? :P :P:P

But hey, Im really happy I got another Prada shoes that I wanted on sale, and the Marc Jacobs bag is just to die for!!! woohooo!! Now… If I can only find a matching wallet……..
